Affiliate Marketing Tips - I Can Turn You Into an Expert

Bold claim, wouldn't you say? Truth is, affiliate marketing is not that hard. The reason so many people have problems is because they make too many mistakes with their marketing. In this article, I'm going to point out just a few of the most common things that affiliate marketers do that end up making things very difficult for them. If you simply avoid these things, you'll be well on your way to becoming an affiliate marketing expert. So pay attention because there is going to be a quiz at the end.

Okay, the very first thing you have to stop doing is jumping on the flavor of the day. You know what I'm talking about. Guru Joe Doe comes out with his "business in a box" or whatever the heck it is, blasts the darn thing out to his list of 100,000 to sell for him and you decide that you're going to jump in and try to sell it too. Yeah, good luck with that. With the amount of competition, not to mention all the other gurus who are promoting this thing, you're dead before you even start. Trust me, there are easier ways to go about this.

Next biggest mistake is advertising. So many affiliate marketers are lazy in this area. They go to the affiliate website and look for all the canned ads. Now don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with canned ads if you at least make some changes to them. But no, most affiliates just take the ad and do nothing but change the link in them. That's it. That's their contribution to the process. Think about this logically. If everybody uses the same canned ads, how does anybody stand out from the crowd? They don't. The only affiliates who DO stand out are the ones that make their own ads. Make sense?

Finally, you've got the avenues that affiliates use to get the word out through. There are so many ways to advertise online and yet most affiliates all use the same old tired ways. What ends up happening is that they all bump into each other and the Internet becomes a traffic jam. Think I'm kidding? Go to Google and look up the latest craze and tell me how many pay per click ads you see for the same product. It's insane.

If you simply avoid these three big goofs, you'll have much more success as an affiliate marketer. If you'd like more information on this subject, check out my signature below.

You really CAN become an affiliate marketing expert. All you need is a solid plan.

To YOUR Success,

The Untold Secret in Affiliate Marketing That Will Triple Your Income

Affiliate marketing is one of the best money making module on the internet. If you are a beginner and you wanted to learn and earn money online, then affiliate marketing is what you are looking for. Indeed that affiliate marketing has created more millionaires than any other online business; however, there is an untold secret about affiliate marketing. And once you knew about this secret, I believe that you can triple your affiliate income and build a solid and successful online business.

What most people know about affiliate marketing is that it is a business where you are promoting other people's product. And if you made sales, you will earn a portion of that as commission. While this is true, but what most people are doing in affiliate marketing is that they are promoting other people's product instead of theirs. What I mean here is that even as an affiliate, you must also promote yourself and build the trust and credibility first before you promote your merchant's product.

This is what most people do not know about. You have to build credibility and the visibility of you or your company as an affiliate and only then, start to promote your affiliate product. For example, you want people to come to your website and what they see is you, not your affiliate product. This way, you are building the visibility of yourself in your market. You want to establish yourself as an expert in your market.

Too many affiliates out there are not doing this. What they do is that they just build a lead capture page to capture leads. While this is the right strategy, but it is much more than just capture leads and build your list. You have to build credibility, your name and your visibility in the same time. For example, in the header of your website, you can insert your own picture. This will make sure that the moment the visitors come to your website, the first thing they will see is you, and not your affiliate product.

I hope that you know what I mean here and I hope you truly benefited from this article. Remember, even as an affiliate, you want to build your name and visibility over the internet and your market. You must establish yourself as an expert and let your market knows about you before you promote them any affiliate products.

Why Did Your AdWords Keyword Get Inactivated?

Your Google ad went inactive for one reason. The quality score was poor. You may have heard other factors caused it, but the quality score is the reason.

The initial quality score is determine by the relevance of your ad and landing page to your keyword. If you optimize both your ad and your landing page for the specific keyword, you should have a good initial score.

You optimize your ad by using the keyword in the ad. Put your keyword in the headline and/or the description. It's also a good idea to have the keyword in the URL of your landing page, which puts it in the destination URL. In addition, you can put the keyword somewhere in your display URL, since it won't affect the destination URL.

You optimize your landing page by applying the same techniques as Search Engine Optimization (SEO) would have you do.

* use the keyword in the page name or path path.
* use the keyword in the page title.
* use the keyword and related keywords in the keyword meta tag.
* use the keyword in the description meta tag.
* use the keyword inside "h1" HTML tags on the page.
* use the keyword throughout the content of your page.

The quality score is also affected by the ads CTR. As your ad gains impressions and clicks, AdWords computes your click through rate (CTR). AdWords draws conclusions about your ads relevancy from the CTR. Google assumes that if your CTR is high, above 0.5%, then your ad is relevant and your score goes up. Conversely, if your CTR is below 0.5% AdWords assumes it is not relevant and lowers your score.

An inactive ad has either an initial quality score that was poor that made it all but impossible to get a CTR and it went inactive. Or, the CTR for a good initial score is below 0.5% and it damaged the quality score to a point that the ad went inactive.

You have 3 options to fix the problem.

1) Delete the keyword. This is often a good solution because the poor quality of the keyword stops becoming a drag on the quality score of your entire campaign. Campaigns have a quality score based on all the keywords, so a poor keyword can damage the quality of other keywords.
2) Improve the quality score. This generally means improving the CTR by re-writing the ad sales copy to more persuasive. The more appealing the ad is to consumers, then more clicks you will get.
3) Increase your maximum CPC bid.

Are you over paying for your AdWords campaigns? Have you experienced any of the following problems using Google AdWords?

* High cost to maintain your AdWords campaign
* Poor quality score affecting your bids
* Low Click Through Rate for your ads
* Minimum bid for your keywords is too high
* Landing pages that don't convert

There is a solution to all of these problems. Slash your AdWords costs in half and get more traffic with the FREE Adwords Strategy Guide

Advertising Online For Free - Discover 2 Secrets For Free Advertising That Converts Like Crazy

In this article we are going to take a quick look at couple free online advertising tips that your competition is most likely NOT using. The simple truth is that most business owners are SO focused on growing their business through traditional channels, that they simply fail to think through some covert and guerrilla strategies for massive and FREE publicity that converts. Let me give you just 2 simple tips that you can use to amp UP your online marketing efforts, and for free, all while laughing your way to the PR wall of fame! Read on.

Use Video To Get Your Message Out for Free

I almost HATE to share this strategy, but there are all kinds of covert techniques for using video services to drive an avalanche of visitors to your website in unique and imaginative ways. One of my favorite ways is to simply take existing videos that are already being viewed on popular video syndication sites and download them to my own machine, use my FREE windows video editor to embed my OWN url's and then re-upload these clips with the same tags and keywords BACK from where I got them. In the right categories, with the right videos for your own niche, this can result in server melting traffic, often overnight! (make sure these are copyright free, and set for "embed enabled" of course - but most available popular videos are both and are shared and edited by many freely)

Stop Advertising in Ezines....and Instead, Promote Your Affiliate Product to the List Owner

Lots of newbies do a lot of ezine advertising for their products and or services, and while this may be effective some of the time ( but usually not) a much BETTER strategy is to "sell" the list owner on becoming an affiliate of your service or offer, rather than accepting a meager fee for advertising instead. The simple truth is that if you make this offer attractive, this can translate into a windfall of tens of thousands of dollars in profits for BOTH of you ( contingent upon your prices, obviously!) but NOTHING sells better than an endorsed mailing to a house list...and this is YOUR opportunity to get it, and for FREE!

Potential in PPC Marketing

Despite the obvious advantages of PPC marketing, there are disadvantages which may cancel its benefits. One of the most common problems associated with marketing PPC is the inexperience of many people try to use this method of advertising profitable. Just present PPC ads marketing a search engine such as Google, not to the whole campaign.

PPC marketing requires a calculated and systematic implementation of ads. PPC marketing involves the use of keywords and bidding to get top placement on a search engine. Setting high placement search engine helps stimulate traffic to a Web site that can easily translate into profits.

Without the necessary experience and knowledge necessary to carry out a marketing typical PPC announcement may become an expensive campaign that does not convert into profit. PPC ads marketing also require funding, discontinued payments will also get your ads dropped. This may be disadvantageous for a site that has already built high rankings with their PPC marketing ads.

Bidding on keywords can also be very costly, as the growing number of websites on the fight against each other to bid on the keywords most popular for their marketing PPC ad . Obviously, small business web sites are at a disadvantage, because the web sites of large companies are able to pay more for popular keywords related to their site. The reason is that most small businesses only set aside a small portion of their capital in advertising, putting them in a disadvantageous position.

Advertising is important and the best advertising online is PPC.

Launch an Effective PPC Campaign

There are a number of things that a website should consider when running an effective campaign PPC. It is important to develop a marketing plan to get the best return on investment from PPC marketing. Select the most appropriate keywords that relate to the site 's business is essential for PPC marketing.

However, just choosing the most popular keywords does not necessarily translate into profit. Selecting more specific keywords that will put a site in the first ten results of the search is also greater awareness of consumers online. Furthermore, it is important that it doesn 't cost to much money to get top spots for PPC marketing.

It is also important that a site monitors the performance of their PPC campaign. This will help change the PPC marketing to make it more productive. At the same time, PPC marketing that has not proved its effectiveness can be immediately abandoned. PPC modified ad marketing is a continuous process that many Web sites do to increase their return on investment.

By keeping up with keyword trends and keyword costs and making sure that the costs meet your budget and making sure that keywords are not crowded with other PPC campaigns you can be successful at PPC marketing. It is difficult at first but when you test your ads with keywords that are related to your site then you can estimate the effectiveness of your ad campaigns and you can get the hang of PPC advertising and can create the right campaigns for your Web sites.

Niche Pay-Per-Click Advertising

Of all the online marketing methods you can use, Pay-Per-Click is the most expensive, but also the most successful if you are able to advertise on search engine result pages that contain keywords relevant to your niche. Obviously you need to do your keyword research and understand Pay-Per-Click advertising systems like Google AdWords and how to get the most out of the for the least money in vested.

You have probably seen PPC ads when conducting online searches. These ads appear on search engine result pages at the top and to the right of the page.

In order to place an ad on these pages, you will have to bid on keywords that you believe those looking for your product are most likely to use. Since there is limited space on these pages, only those with the highest bid will be able to place an ad for a particular keyword phrase. Do your keyword research using the tools here: webuildpages.com/tools/ - to research your niches keywords that will cost you the least to get the most traffic.

Depending on the number of people who want to place an ad using specific keywords, you may have to bid high in order to get a spot.

Bids typically range from thirty cents a click to a dollar or more. This means that each time a person clicks on your ad, you will have to pay the amount per click that you bid.

However, spreading your risk over several 5 cent keywords or phrases may untimately cost you less and provide you with more statistical information to base future campaigns on.

For example, if there is a keyword or phrase that costs 30 cents per click that is searched on 1,000 times per month and there is also 5 nickle keywords or phrases that has the same monthly click through potential, you will save your advertising budget about 20% of what it would be to just pay for the one 30 cent keyword or phrase.

If on a budget, this can be a tedious task because while you have to be competitive, especially if the keyword is a popular one, you need to be able to estimate how many people will click on the ad each month based on the keyword's popularity.

This is a tough marketing gamble to take if you are new to Internet marketing. While PPC can be very successful, there are other ways to advertise online that will generate interest in your product, especially if it is one of the only ones that caters to the niche.

PPC Advertising to Increase Sales and Traffic

Every business needs advertisement to communicate to the potential customer that the particular product exists and tell him how it can help him address his needs. In the physical world, most forms of advertisements are targeted at the masses through media like TV, magazines, hoardings etc. A person viewing the advertisement need not even be remotely interested in your product and yet, there is a cost for that particular eye pair which you pay.

PPC Advertising is different

In the online world, PPC advertising, or Pay per Click advertising is a different product altogether. In this form of advertisement, your advertisement can be targeted to specific audience who are most likely looking for your product. For example, if you have wonderful bath accessories, your advertisements will be seen by people who are looking for home improvement, bath room remodelling, Interior decoration, home improvement etc. This gives you an edge over all other mediums because with the advertisement being seen by target groups, the conversion rate will be much higher.

Cost effective

With media advertising, your cost is often related to the reach of the media. For instance, a publication with a reach of say 500,000 copies a week would cost your advertisement a certain amount of money, with no guarantee of any conversions. But, when you run a Pay per Click advertising program, particularly through a professional agency like an Internet Marketing Agency, often times you get a guaranteed conversion rate as well as all the expertise required to run the campaign effectively. A cost-benefit analysis on Pay per Click program would also reveal that your cost per sale is just a fraction of what you achieve from other media. PPC advertising in the online media therefore stands as an effective tool in promoting your business to this vast expanse of internet community.

4 Easy AdWords Tips That Will Make Your Campaign a Winner

AdWords is a wonderful way to bring highly targeted traffic to your website but many people fail to reach their true potential with it. In all honesty, maximizing profit with Google AdWords is a science.

Here are 4 tips on conducting a successful AdWords Campaign:

1.) Understand how AdWords works

Most people cannot even make their television remote work properly. Why? Because most people do not take the time to read the instructions. The same is true in the internet marketing world. Before beginning your AdWords adventure, you should take the time to learn everything you possibly can about the system. There are others who have used the system with great success so we know that AdWords is a viable way to generate high quality traffic. No system is going to work if you do not learn how to make it work for you.

2.) Understand keyword types

There are 4 keyword types that can be used with AdWords, and each will affect how your ad is triggered:

Broad Match - example: dog racing((This type of keyword is entered using no quotation marks or brackets. When a user conducts a search that contains either word, your ad will be triggered. This type of match is not always as effective as you might like it to be and can attract the wrong type of traffic.( Phrase Match - example: "dog racing"((Using quotation marks when entering your keywords will narrow the field a bit. Now, only searches that contain the words "dog racing" in that order will activate your ad.

Exact Match - example: [dog racing]((If you enter your keyword with brackets surrounding them, a user must type the exact phrase into the search box. This type of match will allow you to narrow the focus of your campaign and your ad will only be triggered by an exact match.

3.) Relevancy

To get your ad placed as high as possible while enjoying the lowest cost, the copy for each of your keywords must be strictly relevant. Put your keyword in the headline and in the body of your ad.

If you do not do this then your ad will be in a much lower position and the cost will be significantly higher.

4.) Landing Page

Believe it or not, AdWords places a good amount of weight on the quality of your landing pages. Google believes that your landing page must be true to your AdWords copy. If you are advertising a free product, e-book, or report then there must be an open download link on your landing page. If you are using the word free in your ad and lead your visitors to a squeeze page where they must provide their name and email address in exchange for your freebie, Google will penalize you.

The best advice here NEVER use the word "free" unless there is an open download link on your page.

The tips described here are just a few of many that will help your AdWords campaign be successful. Learn as much as you can about the system and make it work for you.

Improve PPC Performance Using Negative Keywords

When NOT to Show Your Ad Negative keywords permit advertisers to specify when ads should not be shown, such as when a keyword has multiple meanings or is part of other popular queries.

Let's consider an example of a specialty cookie company that advertises on the keyword "cookies". People would see the ad if they searched on "chocolate chip cookies" or "specialty cookies". Paying for these clicks makes sense. However, the ad may also show up for people who search on "web cookies" or "eliminate cookies from my hard drive".

Most ads sufficiently specify the product to which an advertiser refers, hence we would expect few erroneous clicks. However, many users click on ads without reading the text and realizing that they refer to something other than what they are looking for. Believe it or not, this is a substantial problem, particularly for highly placed ads (the problem diminishes further down the page). Even a few erroneous clicks can generate significant expenses on competitive keywords.

Even if we ignore the effect of spurious clicks, the extra ad impressions are problematic for two more reasons. First, programs like AdWords determine ad placement partly from click-through-rate (CTR), thus showing your ad when it is unlikely to get clicks will result in lower CTR and lower placement. Second, extra impressions skew statistics that would otherwise provide valuable insight into user behavior.

Finding Negative Keywords Negative keywords are remarkably easy to find. Simply type the phrase of interest into a search engine and see what comes up. Searches on common and short phrases almost invariably turn up results that don't conform to your intended usage. Look at what other words always appear with your keyword. For instance, a search on "cookies" turns up many pages that include the words "Internet" and "web". By adding these as negative keywords for our ads we can prevent the ad from showing when the words "Internet" or "web" are included with "cookies" in a search query.

The easiest way to find negative keywords is with Google Keyword Tool. A query on "cookies" provides a list of the most popular searches that included that word along with how popular each search has been over the past month. Here are some negative keywords turned up by this technique (your results may differ):

* recipe
* jar
* cutter
* monster
* enable
* disable
* internet
* tin
* press
* computer

Not only is this a very quick way to find negative keywords, it's also based upon real user behavior. You can try inferring search phrases from search results, but nothing beats real search statistics.

In summary, negative keywords help target keyword ads to likely customers and can greatly improve campaign cost effectiveness.

Adwords Keyword Research Tool - Spend Lesser Time and Achieve Faster Results

An AdWord campaign has always been an essential component of effective Internet marketing. But, let us face it - AdWord is becoming more and more expensive with each passing day because of the high volume of competition in almost every niche. However, there are still ways to target the right keywords and enjoy lots of targeted traffic without paying through the nose.

You can easily do this with the help of a powerful AdWords Keyword Research Tool such as Keyword Elite, WordTracker, and Google keyword research.

Dig A Little Deeper

Because of the huge competition in each and every niche, it is very hard to find keywords with a lower competition volume and higher click rates. Therefore, you cannot just rely on the general keywords. You need to dig a little deeper.

While you are using the AdWords Keyword Research Tool, you are recommended to focus on keywords that have a lower competition rate and a decent (if not higher) click rate. It is very important for you to understand that long tail keywords are not only a lot cheaper, but they also yield better profits. With the help of these tools, you can easily find low cost long tail keywords that can be used profitably in your AdWord campaign.

However, this is not the end of the story. Your ultimate objective is to get a competitive edge over your competitors. Therefore, you must make sure that your chosen AdWords keyword research tool also helps you in spying on your competitors, showing how they are using those keywords on their websites and how successful they have been. After all, when you can learn from others' mistakes, why should you make your own? Once you know your competitors better, you can develop a super strategy to win over them.

You need a tool that cuts down on many hours of research time by throwing out thousands of keywords in just a matter of a few seconds. Keyword Elite and WordTracker will only help you out in finding the right keyword. They will not help you in developing your strategy on how to get that competitive edge you want or deserve. Therefore, if you want to save your time and get more accurate results, you must go in for the advanced tools.

Choosing the right tool is not that difficult - it all boils down to how much time and money you want to invest in your AdWord campaign. If you are serious about your online business, this is the right time to download a good AdWords keyword research tool. It is the first choice of professional Internet marketers - especially those who want to dominate the PPC market.

How to Use AdWords to Explode Your Business

AdWords, when used properly, will not only grow your business and list exponentially but it is very cost effective as well. There are many people who have tried using a pay-per-click program such as Google AdWords but have failed. Why did they fail?

One of the main reasons that internet marketers fail with their AdWords campaigns is because they are lazy. Honest, but true. AdWords is not a guided missile to riches that you can simply fire and forget. Like all things in life that provide a great reward, a successful AdWords campaign is something that you have to work at.

1.) Understand the Nature of the Beast

The most important thing in a successful AdWords campaign is developing an understanding of the system. It may not be rocket science but it is pretty darned close. Before you begin, head over to the AdWords site and read the FAQ. Then hit the Google search engine and visit some message boards dedicated to AdWords. If need be, pick up a guide and read it as well. The more that you know about the system and how it works, the more you will be able to take advantage of it.

Take the opinions of others into consideration but do not let them guide you. On some of the internet marketing forums you will find that many people are against AdWords and other pay-per-click systems. Many times this is because they jumped in with both feet before they understood the system and therefore they failed. You are not going to fail because you are going to take the time to do your research BEFORE starting your first campaign.

2.) Set Spending Limits

AdWords gives you the ability to set daily spending limits for keywords. Use this feature to control the cost of your ads. If you only want to spend $75 per day on advertising, set that as your limit and the system will stop serving your ads when your limit has been reached.

3.) Create Relevant Ad Copy

When creating an ad the goal is to achieve top placement at the lowest cost. One way to accomplish this goal is to include your keyword in both the headline and body of your ad. This increases the relevancy of your ad and thereby lowers the cost.

4.) Use Different Types of Keywords

How often your ad is displayed and how it is triggered is really up to you. There are 3 main keyword types that you can use.

Broad Match - example: fine dining - This phrase is entered without quotations or brackets. You ad would be triggered anytime a user enters a search string that included the words "fine" and "dining" regardless of order or placement.

Phrase Match - example "fine dining" - Enter this type of phrase with quotation marks surrounding it. Your ad will be triggered by searches that contain the words "fine dining" in that order.

Exact Match - example: [fine dining] - This type of keyword is entered with brackets. To trigger your ad a user would have to conduct a search that exactly matches the keyword phrase.

Use of keywords and match types can help your keep your costs within reason and lead to a successful AdWords campaign.

The 4 topics discussed here are but a few of the many strategies that you need to learn and understand to be truly successful in the AdWords game. Get as much information as you possibly can and use it to explode your business.

Google's AdWords Could Lose Billions on Its Addiction to Relevance!

What I'm about to say may surprise you. If you're an old advertising / marketing guy or gal, you'll get my drift immediately. Somehow with all the might that Google has, it just might in fact be a little too tightly focused. Logically I totally get their view on keeping it all relevant and targeted. But you know what, I'm human and so are you and holy cow, we're not built that way. I like being a little untargeted, non relevant at times, and when the good Lord is willing, maybe even spontaneous!

Okay, so here's where I'm going with all this. The internet & Google, more to the point, has truly become the fourth media, after newspaper, radio and television. No question there at all. While I totally appreciate Google's attempt to keep everything focused and relevant on the search engine side, I actually do miss the distractions on the ad side. You know, a billboard that catches your attention and suggests where you might eat lunch. The check out at Wal-Mart or any variety store, with their plethora of useless things to buy on impulse. And yes, we buy billions and billions of dollars worth of things on impulse every single day.

Granted I may still buy the targeted items I see advertised through AdWords on Google, but they have clearly taken all the spontaneous spirit out of my shopping experience. Something the human condition has craved for so very long. God forbid grocery stores were able to completely target you like that. It might work, and I'm sure it would actually. Just dropped in to buy some dog food and as I near the check out, the only things there are Dog Treats, Dog Leashes, Dog Shampoo .. you get my drift. When am I gonna snag that chocolate bar I don't need, but will truly enjoy.

I spent 30 years in media, in radio advertising to be more specific. And I can honestly tell you, that if we priced the sponsorship of the Weather Forecast at $150.00 for 30 seconds of air time, advertisers were lined up to buy it. We did not restrict them by their actual product. It was first come, first served. So the Weather was often brought to you by McDonald's, nothing relevant to the weather at all, they just bought that spot because it had the most listeners in the hour. Seems smart and targeted to a degree.

We have gone from eating at home, to dining in a restaurant, to eating in a fast food establishment, to today, and the drive thru or skid mark lunch as I call it. What's next, the food patch, and I'll never have to stop in at all! Clearly, it's getting a bit too tight don't ya think?!

I really do think that if McDonald's or Wal-Mart or you and I want to advertise anywhere on Google there should be no restriction. The price of the ad's location will determine who ultimately goes where. But let me decide, if I want to be relevant or not!

Yahoo was the giant for many years, got fat I guess and Google just swept in and did so in a big way. In my opinion, there is room here to move this giant called Google, and I think another giant like Yahoo could just be the one to do it. Focus and target and relevant .. sure, let's do all that .. but let's also have some fun too! The Google system itself is a fantastic assortment of algorithms far to complicated to properly understand but then so are we the people. A highly complex assortment of personalities, with needs and wants. A very daunting task to effectively marry the two.

I must admit that I'm even bothering to mention all this because of my long career in the advertising game, and also because of my actual day to day use of the Google Search Engine and also the Google AdWords Program. This much I know from experience, you will lose a great deal of money using AdWords, unless you have done your homework, or at the very least, done some serious reading and use the proper software to assist you. Google doesn't make it easy to advertise there but there are ways to make things work.

You may love and hate Google for a great many reasons, but to be successful with AdWords, Keyword Elite is a great place to start. Oh sure, it may sound like some kind of shameless advertising plug, but it will certainly save you countless hours on the research side, and it will open new doors, as it actually suggests other powerful keywords to consider, that you would not have thought of. And you know what, if you really work at it, you might even get your ad to show up on a completely irrelevant page, bringing me right back to my original story of allowing me to do some impulse buying. If leveraging your time is important to you, I would highly suggest the software route I mentioned.

So maybe the next time I'm on Google searching for my favorite holiday destination, I'll run into your ad selling widgets. It won't be relevant or even targeted, but it'll sure put a huge smile on my face when I see that ad so totally out of place. Long live impulse buying and my right to choose what's relevant or not.

How to Make Money Online - Paid Search Advertising For Beginners

How To Make Money Online? This is literally the Million Dollar Question! Whether you want to make a fortune, or are simply searching for ways to earn a modest second income from home, the Internet can provide the answer. Although it is not absolutely necessary to own your own website in order to make money from online marketing, it can be a huge benefit!

With many households now owning one or more computers, sales over the internet have already reached mammoth proportions, and this is set to increase even more dramatically over the next few years. Literally almost anything can and is being bought or sold online each day, and a huge proportion of this is being done through paid search advertising via a Search Engine. Google is the biggest player in the Search Engines , followed by Yahoo and MSN. There are of course other smaller search engines but these are the 3 main ones. Whilst there are other methods of making money online and generating traffic to a website, the topic covered in this article is Pay Per Click, or PPC as it is commonly known, and is essentially for beginners in this area.

PPC can generate traffic to a website almost instantly, with the right AdWords Campaigns. AdWords is the name Google gives to what it calls sponsored search advertising, and is the platform that will be discussed here in more detail. Opening an account is easy, and then it is a matter of getting started with your advertising campaigns. Although this may seem relatively straight forward, it is however vitally important to do your research before you start.

What is it that you are trying to sell?. In order to be successful and make money online it is vital that when a prospective customer clicks on your ad he/she is taken to a webpage, or landing page which contains exactly that which you have promised. This page is called the destination URL, amd is different from the display URL, which is normally the homepage of your website. If the customer does not immediately see what he/she is looking for on the landing page they will hit the Back button on their browser, and you have lost them forever.

Keywords are the probably the most vital part of your AdWords campaign. Get this wrong and you will either get no clicks, or even worse get irrelevant clicks on your ad, and this is where a lot of money can be lost. Try to think like a prospective customer. What words would you type into the browser if you were looking to purchase this product or service over the internet? There are many good Keyword Tools that you can either get for free or buy which will suggest additional keywords. Google provides you with a Free Keyword Tool, which will also show you estimated volumes of traffic for each keyword it suggests. When you have chosen your keywords, Google will ask you how much you would like to bid, or pay for that keyword when someone clicks on your ad. Of course the more popular the keyword the more you will have to pay for it in the beginning if you wish to be in the top few searches, or on the first page for that keyword search.

The reason I say in the beginning is because Google does not only take into account how much you pay for a keyword when it calculates what your position will be. It also takes many other factors into consideration, such as how relevant your keywords are, whether your keywords appear in your ad or not, your Click Through Rate, (CTR), and the relevancy of your landing page, as well as other factors known only to Google. In order for your campaign to be successful and actually make money online all of these things need to be considered.

Try not to make your keyword too "broad". For example if you are selling a 22 carat gold wedding ring, and you use the word "ring" as a keyword, it will throw up many different kinds of ring which are not relevant. It may even show up searches such as "boxing ring" for example. In general it is better to have keywords which are at least 2 words long, and preferably 3 - 4 words or even longer. These are called "long tail keywords", and although they may get fewer impressions, as fewer people will be searching for them, they will be relevant to your campaign and will result in a higher CTR and ultimately more sales, or "Conversions". Google also gives the opportunity to choose "broad", "phrase" or "exact" match keywords, and also to add "negative" keywords, but this will be discussed in a later article, as well as writing your ad copy.

Finally, remember to set a Budget for your campaigns. Google allows you to specify a maximum amount that you wish to pay in a particular month, and it is wise to set a limit especially in the beginning when you are new to it all and are testing the water. To be successful in making money online it is important to learn the ropes and set your budget low at first.

Applying PPC Search Engine Internet Marketing to Your Website

Google's popular AdWords has created a large interest in PPC search engine internet marketing. Though it may seem like an easy solution to a new age problem, pay-per-click (PPC) search engine advertising is not a holistic approach that will necessarily drive sales.

PPC advertising is an online advertising platform that allows a business to advertise on search engines. On the internet, consumers use keywords to search for websites. Business can select the keywords to advertise for, and pay Google on a pay-per-click basis. That means that the advertiser will only pay Google for each consumer that clicks on the advertised link.

The advertiser can select how much he/she wants to bid on the keywords. Therefore, the PPC cost is determined by the advertiser. A higher 'bid' secures a better position for the advertiser compared to other competitors who are also advertising using the same keywords.

Another advantage to this service is that it allows you to limit the amount you wish to spend each day, thereby preventing your advertising costs from going out of control. For example, if you chose to bid $10 for each click, and set $100 as your daily limit, the moment 10 clicks are registered, your advertising will cease for that day.

PPC programs are a great way to drive traffic to your website. It can be a powerful tool for new websites who are trying to establish a presence on the internet.

The problem is that many websites use PPC programs for the entirety of their online marketing efforts. There are many other options that need to be considered if you want to achieve organic online growth. Your website's design, your copy and your brand are some elements that need to be considered. I have seen several businesses that would rather spend money on PPC programs instead of website design. What results is a terrible brand touch point that creates a brand disconnect, thereby severing any potential relationship the business could have developed with the consumer.

Because these businesses waste their money on PPC programs, they receive a high amount of traffic, but low conversion rates. There's no point in paying a search engine to get consumers to see how terrible your website is.

In order to develop a strong web presence that can endure in the face of an evolving consumer landscape, businesses, however small, need to get the basics right. There a saying that goes, "there's never a second chance to make a first impression". When you develop an online business, it is imperative that you make good first impressions. Rebranding or relaunching an online business can be an expensive and time consuming affair.

In order to apply PPC search engine internet marketing to your website, you need to adopt a holistic approach. If you are looking to start an online business, or if you are looking to relaunch your online business, I highly recommend that you hire experienced media professionals that are able to produce results.
